The Bullwinkel Scholars Program - Winter Appeal 2024

Preserve their legacy - Donate to the Bullwinkel Scholars Program today

The ACN Foundation and its generous donors proudly support The Bullwinkel Scholars Program, securing perpetual scholarships for Australian nurses. This initiative empowers future nursing leaders, enhancing their skills to better support colleagues and patients nationwide, ensuring a lasting impact on the health care industry across Australia.

The Bullwinkel Scholars program was created to honour the memory of 21 Australian nurses who died at the Bangka Island massacre on the 16th of February 1942, and Lieutenant Colonel Vivian Bullwinkel, AO, MBE, ARRC, ED, FNM, FRCNA, the sole survivor of this tragic event.

Vivian advocated for better education and conditions for nurses, established the Australian Nurses’ Memorial Centre, and served as President of the Royal College of Nursing, now the Australian College of Nursing. The College's Foundation continues her legacy by offering scholarships to inspire passionate young nurses in Australia.

Your tax-deductible donation ensures the continuation of the Bullwinkel Scholars Program, empowering exceptional Australian nurses with leadership opportunities to advance the next generation and strengthen Australian healthcare.
