On 16 August 2022, as part of the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) Military Faculty Conference, nurses from across Australia met at the Darwin Military Museum to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the sinking of the SS Vyner Brooke, Bangka Island Massacre and the Bombing of Darwin. With the pandemic preventing nurses from coming together in February, the event provided an important opportunity for the nurses of today to pay their respects to their forebearers who paid the ultimate sacrifice to care for others.
