30 April 1937 – 25 January 2023

Eric Murray FACN was a member and fellow of the NSW College of Nursing from 1988, which later became the Australian College of Nursing (ACN). He was passionate about nursing, forensic science and paramedics.

Eric worked in nursing for over 50 years during which time he worked as a forensic nurse facing challenges such as the Granville train disaster and managing patients as leader of the Mental Health Unit at Long Bay Correctional Complex. Eric’s interest in paramedics saw him serve as a member of the St John Ambulance NSW Training Branch taking on various appointments including Chairman for the Central Coast Training Region. He was also a dedicated member and committee representative with the Australian & New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS) for 50 years.

Through his devotion to nursing, Eric established and funded the Eric Murray Achiever Award which provides financial assistance for a current ACN student to undertake an ACN course in order to benefit the nursing profession and public.

Eric will be remembered for his generosity, commitment and dedication and his long association with ACN.
