It’s Time for Nurses Scholarship Fund

Did you know, a nurse is required to continuously upskill and update their credentials throughout their nursing career?

This is one of the reasons Australia has an excellent healthcare system. Our nurses are highly skilled and up to date with the latest in health care delivery practice. They are the backbone of the healthcare system. However, the ‘hitch is’ that in most cases, nurses need to self-fund their continuing education, often at great expense. Why? Because there are not enough nursing scholarships to meet demand.

To address this shortage, the ACN Foundation created the It’s Time for Nurses Scholarship Fund to help, in smaller ways, ease the financial burden nurses often face when aiming to stay up to date. Support from the wider Australian community enabled this Fund to be established and we are grateful.

We need to grow this Fund and ask you to consider donating whatever you are able.

Scholarships for nurses, no matter the amount, means more nurses can more quickly afford to gain high level skills in their elected specialty.

Why donate?

Your donation will enable the It’s Time for Nurses Scholarship Fund to grow its ability to:

• Assist nurses who are unable to enrol in postgraduate courses due to financial constraints
• Provide grants for nurses to attend conferences and study tours, a vital part of their continuing professional development (CPD)
• Support the growth of nursing leadership skills through the ACN Institute of Leadership (including the Emerging Nurse Leader and Mid-Career Leadership programs)

With your support we can better ensure Australian nurses have access to more scholarships and ease the financial burden in small ways as they keep their skills current and at the top level required with the everchanging healthcare landscape.

Nurses make up more than 50% of the healthcare workforce in Australia. One third of our current nurses are over 50 years of age, highly skilled, experienced and will retire over the next ten years exacerbating our current nursing shortage.
